Implementation Rules on Fellows

Implementation Rules on Fellows of Chinese Association of Automation (Trial)

 (Adopted by the 8th Standing Council of the 9th Chinese Association of Automation on February 7, 2013)


1. These regulations are formulated according to the Articles of Chinese Association of Automation and Membership Regulations of Chinese Association of Automation, and other relevant regulations, to recognize CAA members who have made outstanding contributions to the development of automation, intelligence and information science and technology, or made outstanding contributions to CAA services.

2. Application and Nomination of Fellows 

(1) The Application of fellow adopts a nomination system. Candidates of the fellow should be nominated by a fellow of the Association. In addition, the candidate of the fellow should obtain a letter of recommendation from five experts in the field. Each nominator shall not nominate more than 2 fellows each year. Experts involved in the recommendation must be professor-level or above.     

 (2) The nomination for fellow is conducted once a year, and the deadline for nominations is September 1 of each year.

 (3) If the nominated candidate for the fellow is not elected as a fellow for two consecutive years, the candidate will not be nominated for the next two years.

 (4) Nominator, referrer and fellow candidates must have CAA Senior and above membership by the nomination deadline, and candidates must have at least 2 years of CAA continuous membership (excluding student membership) by the nomination deadline. CAA full-time staff and the members of current Credentials Committee may not nominate and recommend candidates of fellow. 

3. Recommendation and Approvals of the Fellows

 (1) According to the research results and performance of the candidates of the fellow, five experts in related field will submit a letter of recommendation within the specified time and submit it to the Credentials Committee for approval.

 (2) The Credentials Committee convene a plenary meeting each year to conduct a preliminary review and assessment of the qualifications of the confirmed candidates. A candidate will be deemed eligible for fellow of the Association if he/she has obtained more than two thirds (including) of the votes cast. The meeting of Credentials Committee is valid if the attending committee members are more than two thirds of the total committee members.

 (3) After the preliminary review and assessment of the qualifications of the candidates, the Credentials Committee will submit the list of qualified candidates to the Standing Council of the Association for voting. The Standing Council adopts the secret ballot. A candidate will be deemed to be elected for fellow if he/she has obtained more than two thirds (including) of the votes cast. After the qualification of the candidate is assessed, it must be announced for 2 weeks. If there is no objection, the candidate is officially elected as a CAA fellow. 

4. Announcement of the List of Fellows and the Certificate

The list of fellows is published on the CAA website and the Newsletter of Chinese Association of Automation. At the same time, the certificate is issued.
