China Robot Competition is one of the most influential and comprehensive robotics competitions in China. It is also the most well-known and authoritative robotics technology competition, academic conference and popular science event in China. The event was first held in 1999 and has been held for 20 consecutive years.
There were 17 events and 46 sub-events in the competition, which would produce 46 champions, 46 runners-up and 43 second runners-up. The competition attracted a total of 1,109 teams from 207 leading universities including Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shandong University, National University of Defense Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology, Xiamen University, Hunan University, etc., with the number of participants exceeding 3,800.
Through robot contests and technical seminars, the competition enables more people, especially young students, to know and love robots, and get themselves access to modern scientific knowledge, in efforts to cultivate more excellent talents for the cause of robotics in China.
The robot competition and technical discussion could also promote the development and innovation of robot and automation technology, and contribute to the rapid and sustainable development of our country. In the course of this competition, the participating students can not only expand their multi-disciplinary knowledge, but also rapidly improve their practical and innovative abilities, making them the future explorers and practitioners of China's robotics industry. It could also enable China to have a huge talent reserve and competitive advantage in the global scientific and technological competition in the present and future.

On the evening of August 31, the news about the opening and holding of the competition was broadcast in CCTV-1 "Night News".
